Getting to Athens and the Venue
Airport to Athens
Metro
- The train station is immediately adjacent to the airport terminal, accessible by an elevated walkway. Follow the signs "To the trains" to reach the train station.
- After purchasing your ticket and passing through the gates, proceed down to the platforms.
- "Athens Metro Line 3" (Blue line) from Airport station will take you directly to "Kerameikos" station, which is a 5-minute walk from the venue (17 stops, approximately 45 minutes).
- Attention: You will need to purchase a special Athens Transport ticket to/from the Airport (see ticket categories below). For all the other metro rides in Athens city center you will need the normal ticket.
Buses
- The Athens Airport is served by the Airport Express bus lines.
- The X95 bus, boarding right outside Arrivals, will take you to "Syntagma" stop (final stop / 18 stops, ~1 hr), where you can take the Metro 3 line and get to “Kerameikos”.
- You can pay contactless using debit/credit card or phone directly in the bus, or by purchasing a special Athens Transport ticket to/from the Airport (more details below).
- Attention: You will need a different ticket to get to the city center via metro.
Athens Transport Tickets
- How to purchase
- ATH.ENA ticket is a re-loadable, contactless paper ticket that you can purchase and topped up in various locations such as vending machines at Athens Metro stations, as well as many kiosks and stores throughout Athens.
- Additionally, you can pay contactless with you debit/credit card or mobile phone directly at the gates, instead of purchasing a ticket (excluding rides from/to the airport).
- Special Tickets to/from the Airport
- €9.00 for a single Metro ticket to/from the Airport
- €5.50 for a single Express bus ticket to/from the Airport
- Normal Ticket for Athens
- €1.20 for a 90-minute single ticket (excl. Airport)
- €4.10 for a daily ticket (excl. Airport)
- €8.20 for a 5-day ticket (excl. Airport)
- Discounts
- Students in Greek universities, Disabled persons and Children under the age of 6 are entitled to unlimited free travel.
Taxis
- Taxis are among the most affordable in Europe.
- At the Athens Airport (El. Venizelos) there is a designated waiting area outside Exit 3 of the Arrivals level.
- A flat rate applies for travel from the Airport to the Athens city center.

- Apps such as FreeNow and Uber can be used to book Taxi rides to/from the Airport.
- The ride is around 30 minutes with light traffic.
Car Rental
- There are numerous car rental agencies both within and around the airport, some of which offer a meet-and-greet service for vehicle pick-up.
- Take Toll Motorway A6 (Attiki Odos) to the city centre. Route passing through Mt. Imittos Ring Road (Periferiaki Imittou) is usually faster (~30 minutes with light traffic).
- The toll fee for Motorway A6 (Attiki Odos) is 2.80 EUR for a private passenger car. You can pay cash or by card at the toll collector lane.
- We would like to highlight here that driving in the center of Athens might be challenging in terms of traffic and parking availability.
